- I posted a query here last night on USR Sprotster Vi--
- Called the service number and had my intelligence insulted this AM
- The Rep claims that the Sportster won't work with any Win95 ports except Comm
- 1. (But mine worked, I just had to reboot every time I used it). Told me to
- bump my mouse off of comm 1 and move the modem there. Where to put the mouse?
- Didn't I lose a physical port? Yes, but that's the only fix. Only other
- solution offered was to remove Win95 (No, I don't think so.) This is supposed
- to be a "Plug and Play" modem.
-
- I noted that there was another solution--to return the modem. He said "That's
- your option."
-
- AND--if I did what he suggested I still had no assurance that the modem could
- connect with my IPS. (It wouldn't before, although it was ok for bbs
- connections)
-
- He assured me the port switching would work.
-
- I Took the modem back and got a Cardinal which seems to be working just fine.
- It's really plug and play-- with much better software. For about $75 cheaper.
-
-
- So much for brand names.
